중생의 새롭게 하심을 입은 자, 개심한 자, 그들의 열망과 삶 과 마음의 성향은?

인간은 성령님의 역사 하심을 통해서 새로운 마음과 새로운 삶을 살게 된다. 이 역사 하심을 통해서 인간의 희망 과 기호는 달라지게 되며, 전혀 새로운 열망함을 얻게 된다……

  그의 어두운 지성과 지식에 빛이 비추어지고,

  그의 반항적인 태도와 뜻은 정복되며,

  그의 난잡한 욕망들은 제거된다;

  그는 마지막 심판에 대해서 알게 되며,

  그가 상상하는 모든 것들이 정제되며,

  그의 기질은 정화된다:

  그의 모든 소망과 두려움 은 진실되고 합당한 방향성을 얻게 된다.

천국이 그의 소망함의 대상이 되며 그리고 하나님으로 부 터의 영원한 분리가 그의 두려움이 되는 것이다.

세상은 향했던 그의 사랑은, 하나님을 향한 사랑으로 변모된다.

하등의 지적인 능력들과 재능은 새로이 사용되고, 감각과 의식 이 더 높은 수준의 방향성을 얻게 된다.

내면의 모든, 본질적인 구조와 기질이 고결한 성향을 받게 된다……
   내면의 의지와 목적이, 더 고귀한 목표로;

그의 포부는, 더 숭고하게 변화되고;

흔들리던 갈망함 들은 확립된 대상을 가지고;

일정치 않던 목적들은 자리가 잡힌다;

그리고 그의 실의에 빠져있던 마음은 확실한 도피처를 얻게 된다.

세상을 경배했던 그의 마음은 이제 세상을 정복하기 위해서 분투하기 시작한다.

A new impulse?  A nobler bent?

The Holy Spirit operates on the human character to produce a new heart and a new life. By this operation the affections and faculties of the man receive a new impulse....
   his dark understanding is illuminated,
   his rebellious will is subdued,
   his irregular desires are rectified;
   his judgment is informed,
   his imagination is chastised,
   his inclinations are sanctified;
   his hopes and fears are directed to their true and adequate end.

Heaven becomes the object of his hopes, and eternal separation from God the object of his fears.

His love of the world is transformed into the love of God.

The lower faculties are pressed into the new service.

The senses have a higher direction.

The whole internal frame and constitution receive a nobler bent....
    the intents and purposes of the mind, a sublimer aim;
    his aspirations, a loftier flight;
    his vacillating desires find a fixed object;
    his vagrant purposes a settled home;
    his disappointed heart a certain refuge.

That heart, no longer the worshiper of the world, is struggling to become its conqueror.
